Literature Text

the tree
stolen out of an old Christmas card
bright as stars in an unpolluted desert sky
guiding you back to the child.
I've played around with this some more since the comments (and included the fourth line).

Hi! I came to see what I see in your poem here for Critmas 2018.
This is so mysterious to me, with very fine imagery that evokes a general feeling of some loss, some loneliness, that *may* be resolved at the end. The first line mentions three things that are separate, yet can also be close to the same, then a mention "of being" that is very basic to humans. And it continues to tell readers what the hope, etc., is for - also a basic need, "to be held." That holding can be elusive, and that "anything" would do is a telling phrase. I'm a little unsure of the "tree" but I see it "twinkling" as described by a clear sky, and that the child (the hope, dream, memory) is under the tree, where then a parent of any sort, at least someone who knows how to care for these things, can go. The tree seems to be a guide and that works for me. That's what I see here - a sign post for hope. dream and memory, which, for me when I read this, is a child who needs to be "swaddled." Your use of these images seems very good to me. I rather like that it's shrouded in what I called mystery. :D
